Republished from last year…
Two years ago – on January 27, 2015 – I finally laid down my burdens and “came as I was” to my Lord Jesus. I was broken, exhausted, at rock bottom. He accepted my surrender, made my heart whole, and brought me in from the darkness. The last two years have been a time of true, miraculous healing – in my life and in our marriage. I trust that the God who never let me go is enabling me to shine His light now – more and more – into the lives of our family, friends, and neighbors, near and far.
So tonight I give Him glory – from an undivided and grateful heart! Do I still stumble? Yes, plenty. My dear wife is such an amazing partner on this journey, as we learn together what it means to be one in Him, fruitful and faithful. We are still asking Him to show us what that looks like. And we know He will!
All glory to the Father who ran to embrace this prodigal – two years ago – when I fell to my knees. I look forward with joy to the next two years, if He tarries. To the next ten or twenty years, if He allows. By His grace, with every breath and heart beat He gives me, I will run my race with perseverance and joy. I will press on!
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)
